FAQ Greece
-
What about Insurance?
We strongly recommend travel insurance! It is relatively inexpensive and easy to obtain. See our Insurance page to learn more and purchase travel insurance.
-
How much cash should I take?
Most places that we visit, especially the places most visited by tourists (Athens, Thessaloniki, Santorini, etc.), will accept credit/debit cards. It’s still good to have cash on hand for purchases where a vendor may not accept cards (like food, drinks, or souvenirs). If you don't plan to buy a lot of souvenirs, 100-200 € is enough for most people.
-
What should I pack for a trip to Greece?
Clothing: Modest attire for religious sites (Religious sites=shoulders covered, long skirts for ladies, long pants for men), comfortable clothing for the climate, and a light jacket for evenings. Think in terms of layers when packing, as the weather can vary from morning to afternoon and evening. There are no formal nights on the cruise, so casual/comfortable attire is appropriate for the entire trip.
Footwear: Comfortable walking shoes are an absolute necessity.
Accessories: Sunscreen, hat, sunglasses, reusable water bottle, and any personal medications.
Travel Documents: Passport, copies of important documents, travel insurance details, and any required visas or authorizations.
-
What about meals?
Breakfast and dinner included daily
Lunches at your own expense (Lunches on the cruise portion are included)
Special dietary requirements can be accommodated with advance notice
Bottled water provided on the bus (Two per person per day)
Greek cuisine features Mediterranean diet staples
-
Can I use my cell phone during the tour?
International roaming or local SIM cards are available in Greece. We recommend checking with your carrier about international plans before departure. While service is generally good in cities and on the cruise ship, it may be limited at some archaeological sites.
-
Are there laundry facilities available?
The cruise features an efficient laundry service that is picked up and returned to your stateroom. Laundry bags are provided in your room. What’s more, your account will be automatically charged, so you won’t need to lift a finger. If you were to utilize this service on the Saturday of the cruise, you could pack half of the clothes you were planning to pack because you would have a clean set of clothes for the second half of the trip.

Is there free time built into the itinerary?
Yes, we include designated free time in most locations for shopping, personal exploration, or rest. There's typically free time in Athens, Thessaloniki, and during cruise port stops. Some evenings are also left unscheduled for personal activities or optional excursions.
